What is the PET test like?
The test has these sections:
Reading and Writing are taken together – 90 minutes
Reading
part 1 – short texts such as signs, messages
part 2 – matching people to texts
part 3 – text + true/false questions
part 4 – long text with multiple choice questions
part 5 – text with 10 gaps
Writing
part 1 – sentence transformations
part 2 – short message
part 3 – informal letter
Listening – 30 minutes
part 1 – multiple choice pictures
part 2 – longer monologue with multiple choice questions
part 3 – monologue with notes to complete
part 4 – informal dialogue with true/false questions
Speaking – an interview, 10 minutes
